Appointment to Be Discussed at July 19 Staff Meeting

Arizona Corporation Commission Chairman Tom Forese announced that the appointment of an interim executive director for the Corporation Commission will be placed on the July 19 Staff Meeting agenda, immediately following that day’s Open Meeting. This comes after the resignation of the former executive director last Thursday. Commissioners will discuss and potentially vote to install an interim executive director to oversee the Corporation Commission staff until a permanent replacement is identified by Commissioners.

Executive Manager Ted Vogt resigned due to concerns of a conflict of interest with Arizona Public Service Co. after several of the commissioners began to have questions about Vogt’s wife who works for a lobbying firm that was hired by APS. Vogt’s lack of disclosure on the matter was a claimed point of concern. But some media outlets, such as the Arizona Daily Independent are asking additional questions such as “why now?” as they claim that the ACC has known about this connection to APS for months.
