With a Bat in Their Hands They Took The Field This Weekend

Grab your gear and play some ball! The girls Junior High Softball team traveled to the town of Maricopa for an all day, single elimination, state tournament.

ALA Started game 1 with a quick 3-0 lead. It didn’t stay that way for long as Legacy Traditional- Maricopa fought back and got the score to 10-4. ALA struggled to get there hitting going until late in the game. ALA Ironwood went on a 2 out run and battled to tie the game at 10 at the top of the inning and quickly shut down Legacy’s batters to force one more inning. In the top of the inning ALA was able to score 2 more runs and once again Olivia Gammill was able to close out the game. With a final score of 12-10 ALA was moving on to the Semi-Finals.

In the Semi-Finals they faced Paradise Honors MS. Paradise Honors pitcher had our number from the beginning. Our girls had never seen pitching like this all season and struggled to get on base. Unfortunately Paradise Honors had no trouble getting on base. ALA Ironwood lost with a final score of 0-14.

This was the first year the ALA Ironwood JH softball team has made it to State and we are so proud of them. It was an amazing season. While they may not be State Champions they finished in the top four, and that is something to be proud of! Congratulations girls for all your hard work and dedication.
