ALA Concert Event Brought Out A Great Crowd of Local Kids

By: San Tan Times and Vickigene Howard

This past Monday, Alex Boyé performed to a full crowd at the ALA Ironwood Regan Auditorium.

The concert was scheduled to run from 7 PM to 9:30 PM but ran much later due to the performer’s insistence to stay until every child that was interested in an autograph was able to receive one.

For those unfamiliar with the artist, Alex Boyé is a British-American singer and actor known for his African-infused songs with a strong YouTube following. His start was in the mid 90s with a European “boy band” by the name of Awesome.

By the turn of the century Boyé focused more on religious music and performs at LDS festivals, National Scout Jamborees, worked with BYU Men’s Chorus, and recently won the Hard Rock Rising 2017 Battle of the Bands.

The highlight of the night was Alex Boyé bringing a little girl up on stage to perform with him after seeing her sing a version of “Hallelujah.”

ALA Ironwood’s school choir also received an opportunity to perform on stage with the artist.

All in all, it was a great night for local kids and residents to have the chance to see a concert within the community that they live.

We hope to see more events such as this. San Tan Valley needs more activities for kids and adults to enjoy from a local perspective.
