Friday evening at Central Arizona College’s San Tan Campus hosted a fundraising event lead by the American Sheriff Foundation and many in the community did an amazing job making it all come together.
With CAC Culinary Skills USA Students and Chef Clay Peden teaming up with American Sheriff Foundation for a fundraising dinner that offered amazing raffle prizes and silent auctions, it also provided an opportunity for Poston Butte’s Culinary Skills department to take part as well. Poston Butte, part of the Florence Unified School District has a Culinary Skills department filled with enthusiastic kids lead by their teacher Kenny Schooley. Chef Clay and the rest of CAC’s Culinary Skills USA Students have a close partnership with Poston Butte Culinary Skills providing high school kids with additional opportunity to assist in large events such as Friday night’s fundraiser.
The American Sheriff fundraiser brought in over $10,000 by early estimations and is already having an immediate impact. A full scholarship was awarded to CAC student Aquille Neighbors, who had no idea he was going to be presented with this amazing opportunity.
This event signifies the start of American Sheriff’s scholarship fund with Central Arizona College which will now be able to provide additional opportunities for students.
In addition to Sheriff Lamb presenting and providing detail as to past and current charitable work that American Sheriff Foundation does and plans to do, they also had speaker Jason Schechterle on hand to provide an inspirational speech about overcoming pain and obstacles in life.
CAC’s Culinary Skills USA Student Spotlight:
The students did a great job at cooking, preparing, and serving throughout the night. Serving a large number of people is no easy task and CAC’s Culinary Skills USA Students, along with Boston Butte Culinary Skills Students handled everything amazingly well.
