The Fluffy Goldendoodle With Cerebellar Hypoplasia

By FUSD and San Tan Times Staff

Josh the Doodle and his owner, Kimberly Hangartner visited San Tan Foothills Life Skills class. Josh is an adorable and very fluffy Goldendoodle who was born with Cerebellar Hypoplasia; which is a neurological disorder that prohibits the part of the brain that controls motor skills. Even though Josh is not a certified therapy dog, because he cannot pass the physical portion of the therapy program, he still brings joy and big smiles to everyone he meets.

With the assistance of a doggie wheelchair or harness that Kimberly uses to support him, Josh meanders about exuding his gentle loving spirit along with kindness, acceptance and a love of treats. Josh’s ability to share his message far outweighs the requirements to be a certified therapy dog.

“The Be Like Josh foundation is a non profit organization dedicated to celebrating animals with special needs. Not only do they survive, but they thrive and inspire. Through our journey of saving these dogs, we are able to educate people and younger generations, about the beauty of special abilities.”
