By Richard Franco, FUSD

Circle Cross Ranch K-8 STEM Academy was recently notified of their receipt three grants, totaling $7,000 for their Physical Education Program.

The largest of the grants came from the National Football League’s Fuel Up, Play 60 program, in the amount of $3,657. This grant provides the program with cafeteria equipment, food taste test activities, incentives/rewards for students who show healthy eating, small fitness equipment, video game software for workouts, and other resources for the implementation of a healthy eating program.

Two smaller grants were awarded to the program from Target and include soccer balls and equipment for the school and the soccer teams to utilize.

All of these grants were applied for by Physical Education Teacher, Mr. Jim Segar, to support the students at the Circle Cross Ranch K-8 STEM Academy.

“We want to thank Mr. Segar, Circle Cross Ranch K-8 STEM Academy PE Teacher, for continuing to apply for and receive grants that help our students. He is an incredible asset to our schools and our kids”, said Superintendent Mr. Chris Knutsen of the receiving of the grant.
