Volunteers Are Making Great Strides in Their Outreach Program

Previously we have covered the Food Bank that Christ the Victor has organized and their on going ability to expand their program.

But, what you may not know is that Combs Food Bank has steadily grown and is continuing their efforts to expand their outreach capabilities.

Last year was their first year that the organization was able to stay open all year due to the additional assistance from volunteers.

The primary focus of the food bank is to provide the support that kids need in our community. Food donations are incredibly important for families in need, but clothing and shoes for teens and pre-teens are in desperate need

Some Stats about what the Combs Food Bank accomplishes

  • Average weekly participation in the food bank is 50 individuals.
  • Thanksgiving Food Box participation was approximately 100 complete Thanksgiving dinners to families.
  • Christmas Food Box participation was approximately 100 complete Christmas dinners to families.
  • Christmas gift giving reached 132 families totaling close to 400 children. This drive is limited to families with children who attend our schools.

The important needs that they are in need of is sneakers, socks, and underwear for kids 3-18 in age.

Currently the organization is planning for the warmer months which means summer clothes and organizing school supplies for the next school year including backpack donations.

Due to the combs Food Bank not being as established as Christ the Victor’s program, additional resources are still in need, especially when it comes to food.

As we spoke about in our Christ the Victor article, Fry’s has been generous enough to donate large quantities of food to their Food Bank.

Combs Food bank does not have this luxury and needs more support when it comes to a constant stream of food.

One of the great things that Combs has been able to establish is free books for any kid in need. This, much like their food and clothing support is offered to all families in need, not just Combs students.

Combs Education Foundation

Formed in 2016, the Combs Education Foundation’s mission is to support educational opportunities for students, staff, and families by funding the development and implementation of quality programs, establishing strong community partnerships, and supporting the goals of the J.O. Combs Unified School District.

In May 2017, the Combs Education Foundation (CEF) awarded its first student scholarship to a Combs High School Senior attending an in-state university. This fall, the foundation awarded seven classroom grants to teachers throughout the district. In addition, the J.O. Combs Food and Clothing Bank supplied over 200 families with a complete turkey dinner with all the amenities for the holidays and is open to families in San Tan Valley year-round.

However, we cannot maintain and extend opportunities like these without your support. Helping our students reach their highest potential is of the utmost importance, and we hope you will consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Combs Education Foundation.

Donations can be mailed to:
