Expect temporary closures, stopped traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

A funeral procession for a fallen Salt River police officer will travel along several miles of Loop 101 from the East Valley to north Peoria on Tuesday morning, Jan. 15, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers, supported by personnel from ADOT, will conduct the temporary traffic stops as the procession for Officer Clayton Townsend enters northbound Loop 101 at McDowell Road in the Scottsdale area.
Drivers should prepare for delays between 7:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday due to temporary rolling closures of northbound and westbound Loop 101, as well as freeway entrance ramps. The procession will travel to a service for Officer Townsend to be held at Christ’s Church of the Valley, 7007 W. Happy Valley Road.
Vehicles in the procession will exit westbound Loop 101 at 67th Avenue in the northwest Valley.
Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider adjusting their travel plans to avoid the temporary rolling closures along the Loop 101 procession route.
In addition to traffic being temporarily held at cross-street on-ramps to Loop 101, some freeway-to-freeway ramps also will be closed at times. Those are the northbound State Route 51 ramp to westbound Loop 101 and the north- and southbound I-17 ramps to westbound Loop 101.
