Ongoing Series on Candidates
With the upcoming elections in November, plus the primaries, San Tan Times will be providing an introduction to all candidates. From their basic platform, to experiences, to committees and voting records if applicable.
The information provided will be strictly from the candidates and straight forward stats whether they are Republican, Democrat, or Independent. San Tan Times will not tell you who you should vote for, we simply want you to vote.
This issue we focus on Commissioner Justin Olson.
Commissioner Justin Olson
“Justin Olson was appointed by Governor Doug Ducey to fill a vacant seat on the Corporation Commission in October of 2017. His top priorities as a Commissioner are to stand up for Arizona taxpayers on the Commission and ensure that their interests are always protected.”
“First elected to the House of Representatives in 2010 on a platform of smaller government, lower taxes, and more freedom, Olson exemplifies what it means to be a citizen legislator. Unlike the career politicians who often become out-of-touch with needs and concerns of their constituents, Olson has always held full-time employment in the private sector while serving his constituents as a lawmaker.”
“Working in a demanding career as a tax analyst has kept Olson grounded in the day-to-day realities of earning a paycheck, putting food on the table and working within the laws that misguided politicians too often create. This perspective has led Olson to successfully advocate legislation to decrease the burden that government places on families, small businesses and individuals. Olson’s efforts have limited government and increased economic freedom.”
“Throughout his tenure in the Legislature, Olson’s commitment to conservative principles has led nearly every conservative organization in Arizona to rate him as one of the very best of the state’s legislators. Those recognitions include “Champion of the Taxpayer” by American’s for Prosperity, an “A” rating by the National Rifle Association, a “Champion of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business, and a “Friend of the Family” by the Center for Arizona Policy.”
“Justin is a lifelong resident of Mesa where he and his wife, Karyn, are currently raising their children.”
“Fiscally Responsible Leadership
In the Arizona House of Representatives, Justin Olson never wavered from his belief in smaller, more efficient government. That’s why Justin personally led the effort to reduce government spending.”
“Always Protecting Arizona Taxpayers
As a State Representative, Justin Olson always put the interests of taxpayers first. As our Corporation Commissioner, he’s doing the same thing. On the Commission, Justin has put taxpayers first by pushing utilities to reduce the rates they charge you and your family. He understands that his job as a Corporation Commissioner is to be a strong and unwavering advocate for Arizona taxpayers.”
