The Gila River Fire, near Kearny, continues to burn. Three fire crews, two engines, and miscellaneous fire resources are looking at areas to hold up the spread on the east side of the fire.
Firefighters are currently fighting a fire along the Gila River approximately 5 miles west of Kearny, AZ. The fire is burning within the Gila River bottom through thick river/riparian brush. The last measurement of size of the fire was provided by the Bureau of Land Management on Monday which estimated the fire to be at 100 acres.
Firefighters are making good progress pinching off the east end of the Gila River Fire.
Remember Fire Restrictions are still in effect on BLM managed land in Central and Western Arizona. Part of those Fire Restrictions include restrictions on target and sport shooting [BLM managed lands in Yavapai, Maricopa and Mohave counties].
As long as the conditions remain hot and dry, and until we get more relief from widespread rain, restrictions will remain in place.
