Job Description:
This position requires REGULAR mandatory weekday availability (8:30 am – 2:30 pm) and weekend availability. Only candidates available to work morning/ early afternoon hours Monday through Friday and on weekends on a REGULAR basis will be considered. Those only seeking summer employment will not be considered. The number of hours a week and schedule vary. Extreme flexibility is a must. The position also requires assigned hours spent outside. 

This is the first level in a broad recreation series. Incumbents are responsible for providing direct care for clients and the general public in area of assignment. 

General responsibilities include promotion of Town programs and Town partner programs at community outreach events and primarily at the Town’s splash pad. Incumbents will be responsible for answering routine questions, greeting visitors, enforcing splash pad rules, park rules, crowd control, and be splash pad lead staff.

Mechanic

Job Description:
Incumbents perform journey level, skilled maintenance and repair mechanic work on medium to heavy equipment, including diesel-powered equipment. May at times serve as lead to other fleet employees. Incumbents completes apparatus inspections and performs maintenance, testing, and repair on all types of firefighting equipment. 

Training and Experience:
(positions in this class typically require):

Vocational Degree and four years of specialized mechanic experience of medium and heavy equipment, as well as passenger cars and trucks; must possess and maintain a valid class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); combination of four (4) years experience repairing and maintaining Fire apparatus, heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. 

Position Requirements at Entry:
General mechanics, including the methods, materials, tools, and standard practices;
Computer controlled systems, as related to engines, transmissions, body, etc.
Equipment operations;
Specialty areas such as hydraulics, pumps, A/C, gas and diesel engines, welding;
Occupational hazards and safe work practices.

Maintenance and Operations Technician - Parks and Grounds Maintenance

Salary: $38,137.48 – $53,392.52 Annually

Incumbents perform the more complex of the semi-skilled activities that may require a license to perform the activities such as refrigeration and light to medium equipment operations. Incumbents may serve as a lead to community service workers, volunteers and part-timers.

High School Diploma, or G.E.D., specialized training and experience relating to area of assignment and two years of relevant maintenance experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Maintenance and Operations Assistant - Parks and Grounds Maintenance

Job Description:
This is an entry level into the maintenance series. Incumbents perform basic, routine custodial, building, grounds, streets maintenance and repair, or general manual labor. Incumbents may also operate tools and equipment such as utility vehicles, tractors, pressure washers, mowers and small dump trucks. Specific duties will vary with area of assignment. 

Typical Qualifications:
High School Diploma, or G.E.D., and one year of related experience depending on area of assignment, which may include industrial custodial, parks and streets maintenance, or general labor experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. 

Staff members assigned to Parks and Grounds must successfully complete a five (5) week arborist training class, eight (8) hours of formal playground safety inspection training, multiple equipment operation trainings, annual OPM certified chemical safety training, and numerous minor safety trainings.
