Job Description:

Manages, directs and evaluates assigned division staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work; counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals; conducts interviews and makes hiring recommendations.

Coordinates daily work activities; organizes, prioritizes, and assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work; confers with assigned staff, assists with complex/problem situations, and provides technical expertise; coordinates or conducts staff training activities.

Participates in the accomplishment of organizational, departmental and divisional long-range goals and objectives; assists in evaluation efficiency and effectiveness of program operations, procedures, and use of resources; recommends and/or implements improvements to policies and procedures as needed.

Oversees and manages fleet maintenance operations and activities which includes maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment; repair and maintenance activities to minimize downtime; responds to complaints related to operations/activities: researches problems/complaints and initiates problem resolution; manages purchasing and inventory control activities; maintenance of the fueling system; testing of vehicles, machinery, equipment, and parts to ensure proper operations prior to release to customers; utilizes a fleet maintenance management system to manage vehicle acquisition, maintenance, repairs and disposal according to pertinent laws, regulations and policies.

Represents the Town and serves as staff liaison to committees, and provides direction and guidance and recommendations to management staff; investigate complaints and implement corrective action as necessary to resolve complaints regarding fleet maintenance.

Prepares and administers the divisional budget by forecasting expenditures, presenting proposals for approval, authorizing payments and monitoring expenditures for recommended adjustments; makes recommendations regarding bid proposals; prepares RFP’s and participates in the development of bid specifications for new equipment and material.

Job Description:

The Management Assistant I is distinguished from high-level Administrative staff by the greater complexity, depth, and scope of professional-level assignments for the Management Assistant I position. Additionally, positions classified at the Management Assistant I level are characterized by a relative absence of office administration and administrative support/coordination work, which is often found in positions classified as Senior Administrative Assistant, Executive Assistant and/or specialized administrative staff assigned to a department. This class is distinguished from the Management Assistant II by the performance of less complex duties. Assigned responsibilities include the performance of the more routine professional duties assigned to positions within the series including directing or participating in gathering information, making statistical analyses, studying special administrative problems and developing new or improving existing systems, writing reports, and developing procedures and forms to increase efficiency.

Instructions related to the Physical Conditioning (PC) test will be emailed to all applicants prior to the PC test date. The PC test is approximately two (2) hours in length.

All applicants must meet or exceed the PC test’s minimum standards to remain in the police officer testing process. Upon successful completion of the PC test, applicants will be scheduled for the written test.
