Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Recreation Leader. 

The Recreation Leader reports to the Recreation Coordinator. The primary function of this position is to provide exemplary customer service to include fielding questions by phone and in person, respond to emergency situations and resolve customer conflicts. This position is also required to open, secure and monitor assigned facilities as well as enforce policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Be able to work minimal to no supervision, respond to emergency situations and be astute in conflict resolution skills
  • Possess outstanding customer service and communication skills
  • Flexible availability to work days and evenings Monday – Sunday (Approximately 10 – 15 hours weekly)
  • Possess and maintain certification for CPR and Standard First Aid within 30 days of hire
  • Age requirement: Must be 18+ years

Position Summary

The primary function of an employee in this class is to plan and supervise organized recreation activities at an assigned school, park, or recreation center. The emphasis of a Recreation Leader III class of employee is the development and implementation of a specialized program. An employee in this class may be assigned to other duties in the City’s Parks and Recreation Division.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency; and
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a youth recreation or adult activity program; and
  • Valid Arizona’s Driver’s License with acceptable driving record; and
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certifications may be required depending on assignment; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Job Summary

The Recreation Instructor – General reports to the Recreation Coordinator. The primary function of this position is to teach a wide range of recreation classes for early childhood to adult age groups. Instructors work independently in a classroom and are expected to provide their own class curriculum and classroom management skills. Instructors must also be able to resolve classroom conflicts, adapt to participants needs/behaviors, respond to emergency situations and enforce facility and classroom policies/procedures. Positions may be available at the following locations: Freestone Recreation Center, Gilbert Community Center, McQueen Park Activity Center and the Southeast Regional Library. The Grounds Maintenance Worker – Seasonal reports to the Maintenance & Operations Supervisor. The primary function of this position is performing general and/or specialized maintenance work involving mowing, landscaping, irrigation and general maintenance of Town properties, parks, athletic fields, irrigation systems and related facilities.

This is a part-time seasonal position which typically works between 16 and 32 hours weekly.
