The Human Resources Specialist is responsible for performing skilled paraprofessional, technical and administrative work in the Human Resources Department.  The following duties are some of the primary responsibilities of this position.  Other duties may be required and assigned as needed.

Receives and responds to internal and external customer inquiries and requests.  Researches and provides information and support.

Conducts and/or assists with recruitments for various positions including posting jobs, screening applications, arranging testing and interviews, scheduling applicants and advertising jobs.

Coordinates the onboarding process for all new employees including the background process and new hire orientation.

Processes all personnel actions and works directly in the HRIS system to manage employee records and data.  This includes generating and formatting various reports and documents as needed.

Coordinates the records management process for Human Resources according to regulations and records retention procedures.

Assists with the implementation and maintenance of various programs including Rewards and Recognition, Performance Management, Wellness, etc.

Provides administrative support to the Human Resources Department to include the reception function for the Administration Building.

Actively participates and accomplishes organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives.

Airfield Electrician and Critical Systems Specialist

The Airfield Electrician performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of airfield lighting systems and some airport navigational aids with strict compliance to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and recommendations. Performs routine tasks involving maintenance and repair of high voltage (up to 5000 volts) runway and taxiway edge lights, lighted signs, PAPI’s, and REILS. Performs preventative maintenance tasks on airfield lighting system equipment in accordance with FAA guidelines. Performs routine repairs and maintenance on airport emergency generators. Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of commercial building electrical systems. Performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of low voltage control systems. Prepares and updates work orders and material requisition forms. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualification(s) Required:  High school, GED or equivalent and five (5) years of electrical journeyman level experience in high voltage airfield lightening maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.  A valid Driver’s License is required.

THIS IS A UNPAID VOLUNTEER POSITION

Therapy dogs are becoming air travelers’ best friends! These wonderful (and furry!) volunteers help take the stress out of air travel through a big hug, belly rub, head scratch, or paw five. As a member of the Gateway AVIATORS C.A.R.E. (Canines Around Relaxing Everyone) Team, handlers and their dogs will roam the passenger terminal during periods of peak flight activity to help de-stress and relax passengers. In addition, handlers are trained and able to assist passengers with airport questions and directions. C.A.R.E. Team members and their dogs are asked to volunteer at least two hours a week. Handlers are provided with a shirt and their dog is provided with a C.A.R.E. Team therapy dog vest.
