  • Maintain and ensure site compliance with all permit conditions and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Completion and submission as required of all site permit and regulatory reporting requirements. 
  • Maintain and enhance site Environmental Management System to ensure best in class performance.
  • Maintain positive relationship with local Communities and Regulators.
  • Oversee the day to day operational performance of the environmental department.
  • Work with all departments at Florence to promote and imbed sound environmental work practices.
  • Provide technical information and develop, train and set operational guidelines.
  • Develop and execute environmental management projects.
  • Engage and manage external consultants as required.
  • Annual budget and approved project work.
  • Ensure development plans in place for key environmental team members.

Reporting to the Senior Hydrogeologist, the Hydrogeological Technician occupies a safety sensitive position that is responsible for SXEW plant and wellfield data collection, and analysis. The work will support both operational performance tracking and environmental compliance.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Collect and characterize SXEW plant and wellfield samples, and perform laboratory testing to track and optimize wellfield performance. Characterization activities will include, sample splitting and other preparations, as well as XRF, pH, conductivity and other analytical determinations.
  • Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Perform groundwater sampling, and other wellfield data collection activities.
  • Repair/maintain wellfield sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Assist with inventory and procurement of spare parts and supplies for wellfield testing equipment.
  • Perform aquifer permit compliance activities, including wellfield performance monitoring.
  • Maintain well files and records.
  • Other duties as required.
