How Has The Woodbury Fire Impacted The State Park

The Tonto National Forest has expanded the closure of the Superstition Wilderness and adjacent Forest as well as campgrounds along State Highway 188 east of Roosevelt dam. Lost Dutchman State Park is open, but at a limited capacity.

Lost Dutchman State Park is OPEN for camping and picnicking ONLY. You are not allowed to go outside the park boundary/fence.

  • ALL hiking trails from the park into the Tonto National Forest & Superstition Wilderness are CLOSED.
  • Tonto National Forest in our area is CLOSED due to the Woodbury Fire. (See map below of area closure)
  • Hwy 88 is closed 3/4 mile past the park entrance to SR188. Canyon and Apache Lakes are CLOSED.
  • Pursuant to 16 U.S.C. 551 and 36 C.F.R, going into or being upon the Restricted Area is punishable as a Class B misdemeanor by a fine up to $5,000.

The park has had no direct impact thus far except smoke in the surrounding area. Smoke may be present depending on wind patterns.
