Join us for an exciting beginner mountain bike ride among the beautiful San Tan Mountains. This 5.5-mile ride is open to all ages and skill levels. Our local experts will be available to help you understand your bike’s features and learn the ins and outs of safe riding. “No Rider Left Behind” is our policy, because we ride together in a group. This is your opportunity to be around others who are passionate about mountain biking as a sport to have fun and get some exercise. Helmets are required. Under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Essentials: water, helmet, extra tube, tools to change a flat tire. Meet at the San Tan Trail sign at the main trailhead. 7-9am.

June 15 is the official start of Arizona’s Summer Monsoon. This is the time of year when weather patterns change and the potential for extreme weather – such as dust storms, thunderstorms, wind, lightning and downpours – increases. This indoor presentation will explain some of the conditions that bring about this weather, why this season is important to desert plants and animals and how you can stay safe when Mother Nature livens things up. Meet inside the Visitor Center. 10-11am.

Join us for this 2-mile hike under the glowing light of the full moon!  This is a great opportunity to experience new sights and sounds of the desert at night.  Bring your sense of adventure on this interpretive hike with our park ranger.  Please bring a flashlight, water, and closed-toe shoes.  No pets, please.  Meet at Trailhead Staging.

What would you do if you got lost or your car broke down?  Would you know how to survive if you were stranded in the desert?  What are the most important things to do to stay alive?  Discover the answers to these questions and more in this informative one-hour presentation!  Feel free to bring your lunch with you inside our Nature Center as Ranger B shares life-saving tips on how to survive in the desert.

Situated between the Mountain and Woodbury Fires, the park is currently unaffected and still open. However, the smell of the fire and the haze is palpable, and fire danger extremely high with the dry grass, once lush and green, now a fuel to burn. Do your part and listen to Smokey! No fires or smoking; be careful with vehicles sparking flames!

Guided 2.5 mile hike. There is a limit of 100 hikers for each night, so please call in advance to reserve your space: 480-982-4485. There is a fee of $3 per person, no refunds (except if the park cancels the program) that will be collected over the phone at the time of signing up for the hike. No dogs, strollers, or headlamps allowed on the hike. Wear good shoes and bring plenty of water. Call if you need to cancel to free up space for others however, the $3 per person fee is non-refundable. We will be taking roll call and administering wristbands for only the 100 hikers signed up. Others will be turned away and encouraged to sign up sooner or for the next hike.
