Beginner Skill Level Mountain Bike Ride

Join us for an exciting beginner mountain bike ride among the beautiful San Tan Mountains. This 5.5-mile ride is open to all ages and skill levels. Our local experts will be available to help you understand your bike’s features and learn the ins and outs of safe riding. “No Rider Left Behind” is our policy, because we ride together in a group. This is your opportunity to be around others who are passionate about mountain biking as a sport to have fun and get some exercise. Helmets are required. Under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Essentials: water, helmet, extra tube, tools to change a flat tire. Meet at the San Tan Trail sign at the main trailhead. 6-8am.

Join us for an indoor presentation about a fascinating creature that is one of only two venomous lizards in the world! We’ll discuss its life cycle, range, and habitat as well as why it has a scientific name that means “studded skin”. After the talk you can meet Jaws, the Gila Monster that serves as an animal ambassador in our critter room, and watch him enjoy a morning snack! Meet inside the Nature Center. 10-11:30am.

Did you know that scorpions glow in the dark under a blacklight?  Join Ranger B as he leads us on this fun and safe night walk along a trail to find these elusive desert dwellers (using our eyes only).  You will sharpen your spotting skills and have a lot of fun at the same time!  All ages will enjoy this casual one-hour/one-mile walk.  Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and a blacklight (blacklights are for sale while supplies last).  No pets, please.  Location:  Trailhead Staging.  As a bonus, join our “All About Scorpions” program inside our Nature Center at 6:30pm and our snake feeding at 7:30pm at no extra cost!
