By Brian Wager-Coach of Poston Butte Swim Team

Despite what the final scores say our kids had an incredible swim meet. Queen Creek was as strong and fast as we were expecting and we had a very close meet with Casteel. Normally these are run as tri-meets so there is a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, but they were run as two separate dual meets. The scores were as follows:

Boys:
Queen Creek 78
Poston 23
Casteel 49
Poston 45

Girls:
Queen Creek 67
Poston 31
Casteel 59
Poston 36

Both Casteel and Queen Creek had dive teams which accounted for additional points that I subtracted to see just the swim results since we do not have one. Poston Butte swam inspired throughout the entire meet. A total of four school records were broken and almost every swimmer on the team set multiple personal records. Gabby Donato took the school record by over a second in the 200 IM, Mason Wright took the 100 Butterfly, Brigham Sorensen took the 50 Freestyle, and the Boys 4×50 Free relay team consisting of Xavier Sansores, Jake Finnegan, Brigham Sorensen, and Mason Wright shattered their own record set two weeks ago by an additional three seconds. Heading into the final event of the meet with counting the diving scores, our boys were tied with Casteel. I am very proud of the effort we put out and look forward to several more records falling this season..
