The Town of Queen Creek received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.
“It is extremely important that we are transparent with how we spend taxpayer dollars and the CAFR is an important piece of that transparency,” shared Queen Creek Mayor Gail Barney. “We appreciate GFOA recognizing our continued efforts to make our financial report accessible to residents and businesses.”
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure.
“Effective government and secure future are two of the Town’s strategic priorities, and this distinction from GFOA affirms our dedication to both of these key areas,” stated Queen Creek Town Manager John Kross. “The financial position of the Town impacts all areas of operations and it is imperative that our financial report is available and understandable both internally and externally.”
This is the 14th consecutive year the Town has received the recognition. “We are honored to once again receive this prestigious award,” stated Finance Director Scott McCarty. “As we prepare the report each year, we continue to focus on a document that is easily readable, efficiently organized and satisfies both the generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.”
