At its January 15 meeting, the Queen Creek Town Council selected Julia Wheatley to serve a one-year term as Vice Mayor. Responsibilities of the Vice Mayor include conducting meetings of the Town Council when the Mayor cannot be present and representing the views of the Mayor and the Town at official and ceremonial functions and in meetings with other agencies when the Mayor is unable to attend. The Mayor nominates the Vice Mayor from among the Town Council members, and the Mayor and Town Council vote to confirm the appointment.
Vice Mayor Wheatley – group“Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as Vice Mayor,” shared Vice Mayor Wheatley. “I would like to acknowledge the efforts of our outgoing Vice Mayor and the vote of confidence by my fellow council members. Most importantly, I would like to thank my family – my husband and my kids for supporting me as I do something that I love. And my father, who Julia Wheatley was elected to the Town Council in 2010. She serves on the Town’s Budget Committee and Legal Policy – Public Safety, Military Affairs and Courts Committee.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration to extend her great interest in law, politics and local government
Wheatley and her husband Benjamin have four children. She and her family moved to Queen Creek in 2007.
